Though
BIS has formulated more than 15000 specifications
so far, many products already established in the market
or those trying to enter the market are not covered
under these specifications. Lack of a product or a
material specification posses problems in standardizing
production parameters. The National Standards stipulate
minimum quality requirements only whereas, progressive
manufacturers often like to introduce products with
additional features not covered under an existing
National Specification.
Besides, there is also the standardization problem
of translating a qualitative and often subjective
"market need" into a quantifiable "test
parameter" for the purpose of quality assurance.
Calibration being a twin brother of testing, it would
call for a methodology de-novo, under such circumstances.
Drawing from the decades old experience of NTH, consultancy
services made available in these areas are :
Development
of testing methodology for products having no documented
specification to satisfy the requirement of end
use.
Development
and documentation of related calibration methodology.
Suggesting
a well defined quantifiable Test Parameter for a
qualitative/subjective market need.
